Browser extension

Fill logins and one-time codes in Chrome, only when you ask.

The Musubi Vault extension works in Chrome 116 or later. It lets you view, copy and fill your entries — including one-time codes — without opening the web app.

Connect it

  1. Open the extension and press Sign in. A window opens to sign in with your Musubi identity; it asks every time you connect, even if you are already signed in on the site.
  2. Back in the extension, type your Master password and press Unlock.

The extension works with vault.musubi.ar. It opens the account you used last, or else the first one you belong to. If you belong to more than one, press the account chip at the top right and choose another. Switching locks the vault: each account has its own keys, and unlocking one never unlocks another, so you type the master password of the account you switched to. If your account has no master password, set it on the web first.

If you set up an unlock passkey, Unlock with a passkey appears too. If it says the server did not answer, passkey unlock is not enabled there for the extension — use the master password.

Fill a login

On a site's login page, open the extension. For this page lists the entries whose URL matches. Press Fill: it writes the username and the password in the page's fields and closes. If nothing matches, search your vault in the box below.

You can also right-click a text field and choose Musubi Vault → Fill username, Fill password or Fill one-time code. It uses the first entry that matches the page and tells you which one it used.

Under that, All entries shows your whole vault grouped by collection, nested the way it is on the web. The collections start collapsed, so the list stays short; press one to open it, and the number beside a collapsed one counts what it is hiding, including everything below it. While you are searching, the results are a flat list of matches instead: a tree of matches hides what matched.

Details shows the entry's fields: the username and note in the open, the rest hidden with Reveal, and the one-time code with its countdown, Copy and its own Fill.

When it locks

The vault locks after fifteen minutes without you using it — you can change that to 1, 5, 15, 30 or 60 from the selector next to Lock — and the moment your screen locks. It also locks when you close Chrome or switch accounts. Lock closes it at once and keeps you signed in; Sign out also ends the extension's session on the server.

What it does not do

  • It does not see your tabs or your browsing history, and it does not read a page until you ask it to fill something there.
  • It does not create or change entries: do that on the web or on your phone.
  • It does not use stored passkeys to sign in to websites.
